Learn about nature from home with Lakehead University’s Ontario Master Naturalist Certificate Program

Do you love nature and want to learn more about it? Do you want to enhance your skills and knowledge as a naturalist? If so, you might be interested in Lakehead University’s Ontario Master Naturalist Winter 2024 Certificate Program.

This online program, offered by Lakehead University’s Office of Community Engagement LifeLong Learning and in partnership with Ontario Nature, is designed for anyone who wants to explore the natural world and its diversity. It covers topics such as geology, anthropology, mammals, plants, birds, reptiles, amphibians, wetlands, invasive species, and insects.

The Ontario Master Naturalist Winter 2024 Certificate Program includes eight learning modules taught in a hybrid model, including interactive PowerPoints, videos created for the program, community resources, a virtual trailhead meeting space, and weekly Zoom webinars with our coordinator and instructor, Bob Bowles.

While this program does include live weekly webinars, it can also be completed asynchronously. The weekly webinars with the program's content experts are recorded and posted to the online course site, allowing learners to go back and review the recordings on their own time.

The program runs for nine weeks, from January 11 to March 7, 2024, on Thursday evenings from 7 pm to 9 pm EDT. The cost of the program is $599 +HST.

The registration for the program is now closed, but you can email cell@lakeheadu.ca to be added to the waitlist. You can also email the same address if you want to see a course outline.
