EPID@Work stands for Enhancing the Prevention of Injury and Disability at Work. We are a research institute at Lakehead University located in Thunder Bay, ON. We conduct community-driven research in the areas of work-related injury and disability prevention with a particular focus on issues relevant to Northwestern Ontario. The Essential Skills for Leadership and Self-Management course is comprised of four 2-hour modules. Each will unpack a key competency of leadership, self-management and overall soft-skill development, giving special focus to workplace and organizational contexts.

The Certificate in Entrepreneurship consists of a series of courses designed to improve the competence of individuals in setting up and running their own business.

The Certificate in Global Entrepreneurship consists of a series of courses designed to improve the competence of individuals in starting up and running their own entrepreneurial business in the global environment.

Created in partnership with Tourism Excellence North (TEN) and Destination Northern Ontario (DNO), the Experiential Travel Tourism Micro-Credential is for learners interested in the theory, practice, and design of Experiential Tourism Development within the unique Northern Ontario setting.

The Executive Leadership Program, brought to you by Lakehead University and Georgian College, is designed to produce long-term results for you and your organization. Facilitated by leading faculty and delivered in the heart of Simcoe County, this innovative program will help you and your team reach their full leadership potential. The program builds on your real-world experience, analyzes your personal leadership style, and helps you improve your own impact and drive performance and culture within your organization.

The Ingenuity Ascend Accelerator Program is a great opportunity for entrepreneurial-minded Lakehead University students and alumni looking to transition an idea into a business opportunity or accelerate the growth and development of an early stage start-up.

Ingenuity Workshops consist of a series of workshops, speakers, and competitions that create a thriving community of entrepreneurial thinkers for all current learners and recent graduates (within one year) of Lakehead University. Workshop topics include technology, starting a business, motivation, and success.

Developed in collaboration with the Culinary Tourism Alliance, the Northern Culinary Tourism Experience Development Micro-Credential provides foundational training across seven key industry areas for learners ranging from small business owners to those that support the tourism industry within their community or region. Learners will explore the culinary tourism landscape with a specific emphasis on Northern Ontario and gain a better understanding of the makeup of local foodways.

The Northern Ontario Professional Tourism Industry Specialist (NOPTIS) Micro-Credential is designed in partnership with the top industry leaders in Ontario tourism for upskilling existing employees within their current job, in addition to supporting the tourism sector to scale up in post-COVID recovery.
