The Fitness Test for Ontario Correctional Officer Applicants (FITCO) is an occupational test to assess a person's ability to perform the physical demands of correctional officer work. This is a standardized test developed through the Ministry of the Solicitor General (SOLGEN). Lakehead University's School of Kinesiology offers a testing site with certified administrators and appraisers.

Please arrive 15-20 minutes ahead of time for sign-in purposes. Park in the free 2-hour parking spaces on Waverly Street adjacent to Waverly Park and enter through the doors that are on top of the gymnasium. Follow the FITCO signs to the gymnasium.
Applicants who have received approval from a SOLGEN representative to proceed to fitness testing can sign up for testing here. Please make sure you are available and ready to be tested on the date and time you are selecting.
Prior to completing an assessment, applicants must undergo a medical screening process which includes pre-exercise clearance and informed consent. Following your registration, important documents will be sent to applicants by a SOLGEN representative in an email.
Once you have registered, you will not be reimbursed if you cancel or do not show up. If you cannot attend please provide at least 24 hrs' notice to kinesiology@lakeheadu.ca.
