Northern Culinary Tourism Experience Development Micro-Credential

Description

Developed in collaboration with the Culinary Tourism Alliance, the Northern Culinary Tourism Experience Development Micro-Credential provides foundational training across seven key industry areas for learners ranging from small business owners to those that support the tourism industry within their community or region. Learners will explore the culinary tourism landscape with a specific emphasis on Northern Ontario and gain a better understanding of the makeup of local foodways. Participants will also learn about how the history, heritage, culture, climate, and geography of the region can be showcased and celebrated to meet visitor demands and raise awareness for the north as a compelling food and drink destination.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners should be able to:

  • Define culinary tourism and identify foodways of Northern regions.
  • Identify essential elements of multi-sensory experience development.
  • Articulate the power of partnerships in developing culinary tourism experiences.
  • Integrate storytelling into multisensory food and drink experiences.
  • Conceptualize the design, development, and delivery of a northern culinary tourism experience.

By completing this micro-credential, learners will have a valuable and recognized certificate of completion that demonstrates their expertise in developing Northern Ontario culinary tourism experiences, giving them a competitive advantage in the industry and opening up new opportunities for their careers.

Course withdrawals more than two weeks prior to the start of the course will receive a full refund less a $40 non-refundable administration fee. Two weeks before the course begins, learners will be refunded 50% less the $40 non-refundable administration fee. Once the course has begun learners will not be refunded.
Non-attendance or not formally withdrawing will result in an incomplete on your non-credit transcript. Questions about the withdrawal process can be forwarded to the Community Zone.
