New Micro-Credentials in October 2024: Exploring Opportunities in Ontario Tourism
Lakehead University's School of Outdoor Recreation, Parks, and Tourism is excited to present the Ontario Professional Tourism Industry Specialist (OPTIS) and the Northern Ontario Professional Tourism Industry Specialist (NOPTIS) Micro-Credentials, starting October 2024. These courses were created in partnership with Destination Northern Ontario, Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities, and with support from Collège Boréal, Tourism Industry Association of Ontario, Nature and Outdoors Tourism Ontario, Indigenous Tourism Ontario, and Société Économique de l’Ontario.
Over the six-week (OPTIS) or seven-week (NOPTIS) online programs, learners can recognize key components of the Ontario and Northern Ontario tourism industry, understand tourism products and marketing, implement marketing strategies and apply equity, diversity, and inclusion-focused tourism practices. Additionally, learners will gain insights into international sector-specific protocols for customer safety and public health operating protocols.
Whether you're a small business owner, a seasoned tourism professional, or a community advocate, these programs will provide valuable knowledge and skills that will benefit your career and contribute to the growth of the tourism industry in the region.
Classes will start on October 21, 2024. To secure your spot, visit the Ontario Professional Tourism Industry Specialist (OPTIS) and the Northern Ontario Professional Tourism Industry Specialist (NOPTIS) Micro-Credential pages to register.
