Aging Well Expo headed to Orillia this fall

Lakehead University and Age-Friendly Orillia will host a free Aging Well Expo this fall. Funded in-part by the Government of Canada's New Horizons for Seniors Program, the Expo will be a day of energizing and informative discussions, interactive demonstrations, and exhibits that will empower seniors to improve their health and well-being. 

The event will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lakehead University, 500 University Ave. in Orillia. Admission and parking is free.

County of Simcoe invests $15 million in the future of Lakehead Orillia

Orillia, Ont. — People in communities across Simcoe County will benefit from greater access to education for generations to come thanks to a transformative $15 million investment from the County of Simcoe.

Building on the County of Simcoe’s first $10 million contribution in 2009 which helped establish Lakehead University’s Orillia campus, this additional $15 million over 10 years—beginning with a $1.5 million installment today—will seed the expansion of Lakehead’s Orillia campus with a new building to allow expanded programs and more opportunities for students to succeed.

Giving Tuesday to support student financial aid at Lakehead University

Thunder Bay and Orillia, Ont. -- Giving Tuesday, one of the largest days of giving on Lakehead University’s calendar, returns on Tues. Dec. 3.

The annual tradition encourages alumni, friends and supporters to come together in support of student financial aid. Since 2006, over $1.17 million has been raised through Giving Tuesday, creating 20 new student awards and supporting dozens of existing scholarships and bursaries.
