Lakehead bridging truth and reconciliation through art

Lakehead University unveiled an Every Child Matters outdoor art installation during a ceremony to honour the children lost to the residential school system, survivors and their families. The artwork unveiling was accompanied by the raising of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) Survivors’ Flag.

Lakehead hosting World Water Day celebrations

Lakehead University will join the global community in raising awareness about the importance of fresh water on World Water Day.

The University will host its inaugural World Water Day celebrations on Friday, March 22 in Thunder Bay, to focus on the importance of protecting and respecting water and to raise awareness of those living without access to safe water.

Lakehead named a leader in artificial intelligence research

Thunder Bay and Orillia, Ont. - Lakehead University has been identified as a Canadian research powerhouse in the rapidly evolving field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

According to Research Infosource’s annual Top 50 Research Universities ranking and analysis, Lakehead is the number one research-intensive undergraduate university in Canada when it comes to AI research and publications. With over 180 per cent growth in published studies in the area of AI (from 2018 to 2022), Lakehead researchers are at the forefront of real-world innovation and transformation.

Lakehead partners with the Town of Innisfil to host South Simcoe Innovation Week

Innisfil, ON – The Town of Innisfil and Lakehead University will be hosting the first ever Lakehead University South Simcoe Innovation Week from April 30 to May 2, in partnership with Nottawasaga Futures, the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury and the County of Simcoe. The event, funded in part by the County of Simcoe Entrepreneurial Innovation Fund, will bring together entrepreneurial thinkers from across Simcoe County to access business and innovation-oriented workshops and events.
