The Dialectical Behavioural Therapy: Calming the Emotional Storm Training Event is a comprehensive 12-hour in-person event that requires full attendance for Lakehead students and Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) community members to earn a Certificate of Participation.
- Includes access to presentation slides and handouts to download.
- Training hours can be applied to future DBT certification training.
- Lakehead Social Work students can count the training hours toward field practicum hours.
- Optional purchase of The DBT Workbook for Emotional Relief by Sheri Van Dijk for the discounted rate of $30.00 (Must be purchased at the time of registration).
- Participants must attend the total 12 hours to earn the Certificate of Participation.

Trainer: Sheri Van Dijk, MSW, RSW, has advanced degrees from York University and the University of Toronto and has been working in the mental health field since 2000. Her extensive experience with and knowledge of DBT and Mindfulness Practice has inspired her to write a number of books, and she regularly conducts training sessions for fellow professionals. Sheri has built a reputation for herself as an expert in providing DBT–informed therapy and works from a trauma-informed perspective.
