Project Communications and Stakeholder Management

Description

This mandatory course is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the complexity of managing stakeholders and project communications. We will cover the processes, tools and techniques of Project Communications Management and Project Stakeholder Management as presented in the Project Management Institute’s (PMI®) A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge® Participants will learn through application to a case study and hands-on exercises.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Use the terminology and processes of stakeholder and communications management;
  • Prepare a project or program communications management plan;
  • Use the tools of stakeholder analysis;
  • Learn tools and develop strategies for managing and monitoring stakeholder engagement;
  • Learn tools and develop strategies for managing and project communications; and 
  • Articulate the benefits of a proactive approach to project communication and stakeholder management.

This course is also sometimes known as "Engaging Stakeholders: Communications Strategies for Managing Expectations" and "Dealing with Conflicting and Hidden Agendas: Stakeholder & Communications Best Practices".

Project Communications and Stakeholder Management will be offered multiple times per year. Participants will receive a workbook with copies of the course slides and case study materials.

This course is ideal for those responsible for managing projects, programs and portfolios; project team leads; and managers whose resources are allocated to projects or who support project work.

Intermediate-level courses require Procept’s 3-day Project Management Essentials to ensure a consistent learning experience. Learners who have completed an equivalent course may request a prerequisite exemption by completing the Prior Learning Assessment (PLAR) form.
